Life Sciences Week

At Turtle Media, we worked with Life Sciences Week to create a professional and engaging digital platform that reflects the importance of the initiative and the sector it supports. Based in the West Midlands, Life Sciences Week is an industry-led event platform that connects businesses, researchers, investors and professionals across the life sciences sector.

Built to support collaboration, innovation and growth, the platform brings together key voices through events, partnerships and networking opportunities, while helping raise the profile of regional life sciences activity across the UK.

The result is a credible, sector-focused online presence that not only communicates the value of Life Sciences Week clearly, but also encourages involvement from sponsors, partners, speakers and attendees alike.

Background

What began as a relatively simple brochure-style website quickly evolved into a far more complex digital project. Life Sciences Week was a brand new event initiative with ambitious plans to showcase a full week of activity across the life sciences sector, and as the scope of the event grew, so did the demands of the website.

At Turtle Media, we were initially asked to create a straightforward online presence to introduce and promote the event week. However, it soon became clear that the platform needed to do much more than simply provide information. As new requirements emerged, the website developed into a central hub for event promotion, management and user interaction.

The project expanded to include a dedicated events section, individual event listings, and eventually a full booking system to support registrations across a growing number of sessions. With more events being added across the week, the site needed to handle increasing functionality while remaining easy to use for both organisers and attendees.

What started as a simple website became a much broader platform incorporating event hosting, event submissions, user logins and payment functionality, transforming it into a key part of the Life Sciences Week experience.

The Project (On Going)

After a successful first year, Life Sciences Week chose to continue working with Turtle Media as the platform moves into future events and continued growth.

What started as a standard website quickly became a far more advanced event system, and our team was there every step of the way to deliver the added functionality needed. As new requirements came in, we responded quickly, helping shape the website into a reliable platform that could support bookings, payments and attendee management at scale.

By the time the event week launched, the website was not only promoting the programme effectively, but also handling live event bookings, secure payments and ticket-based check-ins smoothly. This gave the Life Sciences Week team a more efficient way to manage events, while creating a seamless experience for attendees from registration through to arrival.

The success of the first year proved the value of having a digital partner who could adapt, deliver and support the project as it evolved. As Life Sciences Week returns, Turtle Media remains a trusted part of that journey, helping the platform grow year after year with the right technology, support and strategic input behind it.

The website for year 2, will have the same booking systems however further functions will be added. With users now having their own login system, they'll be able to post events with the LSW, and then able to approve or deny. They'll be able to access their own event attendees and check them in without the need for LSW staff in attendance.

Furthermore, all attendees will hit a CRM system for further marketing and opportunities.
